Last week, as part of International Women’s Day, SII Group Spain had the honor of welcoming Lydia Sempere for a special awareness event at our Madrid offices, in collaboration with our social partner, Fundación Adecco.

Lydia is the first deaf driver to compete in the Spanish Touring Car Championship, and she shared her inspiring story of overcoming obstacles in the world of motorsport. From a young age, she has faced numerous challenges, from bullying during her school years to a lack of resources to enter a traditionally male-dominated industry. However, her passion and determination have led her to break barriers and prove that disability does not define people—their effort and perseverance do.

The event, which was attended both in person and online, provided a space for reflection and learning, allowing participants to gain firsthand insight into the challenges Lydia has faced and how she has made history in Spanish motorsport. Additionally, we had the opportunity to explore, alongside Fundación Adecco, the role of diversity in the workplace and how we can continue progressing toward a more inclusive society.

To conclude the event, we enjoyed a networking space accompanied by a light snack, where attendees could share their impressions and reflections on the importance of fostering inclusion in all areas.

At SII Group Spain, we reaffirm our commitment to equal opportunities and diversity in both the workplace and society. We believe in the importance of creating spaces where every voice is heard, and every talent has its place, promoting a more inclusive and equitable environment.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this inspiring and insightful event. Let’s keep driving change forward!
